In 2011 Deep Silver took it’s first stab at making it’s popular zombie game Dead Island into a movie, having signed a deal with Lionsgate. Unfortunately, or maybe luckily depending how you feel about the series, that movie deal never came to fruition and Deep Silver regained the rights to the project.

Recently, however it was revealed that Deep Silver is taking another stab at the movie. They have partnered with Occupant Entertainment to create a movie based on the series. Deep Silver owner, Koch Media CEO Dr. Klemens Kundratitz said,

“The Dead Island universe offers a rich and unique setting that can expand beyond the pure gaming experience. We are very much looking forward to seeing Dead Island open up to new audiences and showing off the fun everybody at Deep Silver has with this brand.”

No additional information on an expected release has been announced.
