According to findings released by Nielsen, one-third of gamers that purchased the PS4 did not own a PS3 last console generation. However, they did own either a Wii or Xbox 360. This means that a good portion of the current PlayStation player base migrated from other consoles. The Nielsen report shows that 17% of PS4 did not own a PlayStation 3.  Now, it should be noted that the report also counted PS3 owners that sold their systems as non-PlayStation owners, something could skew the numbers some.

Still, the Nielsen report does give some interesting data to chew on as to why  there  was a exodus from both Xbox 360 and the Wii last-gen to the PlayStation 4 this go around?
