Sony released its latest financial reports, and it looks like PlayStation consoles outsold Xbox systems in the first quarter of 2014. Sony has not confirmed how many PS3 and PS4 consoles were sold separately, but basing the numbers on the combined sales totaled around 3.5 million units. Compared to last year’s numbers when the sales were around 1.1 million in the same time period.

Microsoft released their fiscal report for the first quarter last week, revealing that the combined shipping figures for both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 sit at 1.1 million. This means that during the first three months of the fiscal year PlayStation outsold Xbox 3:1 Sony also confirmed that ¥257.5 billion(around $2.4 billion) of sales were generated from Sony’s Games and Network Services division, which is attributed to the launch of the PlayStation 4.
