The latest update for the Playstation 4 is now available, however the update doesn’t offer any new features and is only a system stability update.

Gamers who turn on their PS4’s today will find update 1.74 available for download. The only item in the update notes is what have has been seen before in recent updates: “System software stability during use of some features has been improved.”

The last two updates 1.71 and 1.72 where charged with fixing stability, both were released in June. The last PS4 update to have any new features – or even a new note about what was going to change was 1.70 in April. This update introduced a new video editor, brightness settings for the Dual Shock 4 controller, and a way to disable HDCP, preloading support, and numerous other features. To this date it’s one of only two system updates to offer more than stability improvements.

Sony sends out system update’s that offer new features at a slow pace, Microsoft has been releasing monthly updates and news features for the Xbox One regularly.  Sony, however does allow fans and users to chime in on what features they want by voting via the Playstation Blog. Currently, the most popular is a means to change your Playstation Network name, improve media support, notifications for friends coming online and a means to delete listings for games you’ve earned no trophies in.
