With the development of crowd-funding and the ease of facilitation for video game publishing, there have been many new developers that have emerged over the past few years. While many of these games come and go with little recognition, every once in a while a video game will be announced that stops you in your tracks, slaps you in the face, and leaves you writhing in desperate anticipation. Timespinner, by Lunar Ray Games, is one of those games.

Timespinner is a gorgeous 2D Metroidvania-style platformer currently in development by the small indie small team in Seattle, Washington for PC, Mac OS X, and Linux. Currently, the game is being featured on Kickstarter and has been receiving great support from backers. As of 7AM on June 26, it has already earned over 22% of its $50,000 development goal, and there are still 29 days still to go. I am positively ecstatic about this game. Watch the trailer and check out the screenshots below to see why this has now become one of my most anticipated games.

“The story of Timespinner follows Lunais, a young woman with the power to control time, who seeks revenge on a technologically advanced empire for killing her family.” (Lunar Ray Games via Kickstarter)

“At its heart, the game is a child of the great pixelated classics of the SNES and PS1 age. From the rich story worlds of Star Ocean, the expansive gothic castle exploration in Castlevania, and the tight gameplay of Megaman X, Timespinner seeks to weave all of these elements into one amazing game.(LunarRayGames.com)
