Satoru Iwata, the President of Nintendo will not be making an appearance at this years E3, which begins in just a few short days from now. A company representative informed Gamespot that Iwata will not be attending due to advice from his physician. Nintendo says not to worry though, stating it’s “business as usual” for the President of Nintendo.

“You won’t be seeing Mr. Iwata at E3 next week. He’s been instructed by his physician not to travel overseas in the immediate future, and so he will not be making the trip to Los Angeles,” the representative said. “Please understand that it is business as usual for Mr. Iwata, and he continues his normal duties as president of Nintendo Co., Ltd. while he remains in Japan. As always, he will be actively involved in all of Nintendo’s activities at the show.”

Whatever Iwata’s health issue is remains unknown, though if Nintendo’s statement is anything to go by, it isn’t anything serious.

Iwata wouldn’t have been getting up on stage at E3 anyway considering this will be the second year in a row that Nintendo has opted out of a live conference. Instead, they do a digital conference over the internet on a separate day from the rest of the major conferences where they broadcast a pre-recorded video. This year, the broadcast will air on June 10th at 9 a.m. PDT which you can view on the E3 portion of Nintendo’s site.
