Over the past few years streaming has become the cool thing to do in gaming. If people aren’t watching you play the game, then you aren’t really playing it! So, it’s no surprise that companies like Microsoft and Google were interested in purchasing streaming giant Twitch TV, but when it comes down to it, only 1 huge corporation can buyout Twitch. Today we know that company will be Google and the amount is reportedly $1 billion.

That’s right, everyone’s favorite search engine, least favorite social media platform, and most hated YouTube host is now attempting to buy Twitch, everyone’s favorite streaming platform. Twitch actually chose Google over Microsoft saying that they believe Google can help them become the definitive place for streaming and watching video game content. I would also assume that choosing Microsoft would mean alienating Sony and Nintendo, and you never want to make enemies out of big companies.

Do you think this acquisition is a good idea? Do you think the Google acquisition could have adverse effects on Twitch? Let us know in the comments!
