Last week Respawn Entertainment removed Capture the Flag from the PC playlist leaving players upset and confused by the removal. The removal was prompted by less than 1% of the entire player base playing the Capture the Flag game type thus resulting in limited matches available for players to join and long wait time. In order to fix this issue the game type was removed from the playlist.

In order to fix the issue the developer has increased the search region of the matchmaking having staid,

“If you’re searching for 5 minutes without starting a game, Stryder will eventually widen your search to include neighboring continents. This means you might end up in a game with a much higher ping than you’re used to, but as players pointed out; playing is preferred to not playing at all!”

In addition they have implemented a balancing system for matchmaking which will avoid breaking up the matchmaking process to find other players. For instance is the teams are unbalanced with a 6v4, the system will automatically balance the team to be 5v5 and continue to the game instead of looking for additional players to balance the teams. This, along with the wider region search will allow matchmaking to happen much quicker. The developer added,

“Beyond this, we’re working on new game modes, riffs on existing game modes, Hashtag matchmaking, and more,” the developer added. “We plan to keep the playlist selection of Titanfall fresh and fun, with engaging new ways to play and switch-ups to old favorites.”
