After a tease on Twitter by Robert Khoo about a new PAX earlier this month, Penny Arcade is taking on the Lone Star State in 2015 for the very first time for PAX South, the new expansion into San Antonio announced by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins.

PAX South will take place in January from the 23rd to the 25th at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, which is located on the east bank of the city’s well known Riverwalk.

This is the fourth PAX convention, along side PAX Prime in Seattle, the original convention which started back in 2004; PAX East in Boston, the second which began in 2010; and PAX Australia in Melbourne which only began just last year in 2013. Also worth noting, the organization also runs PAX Dev in Seattle, a developer only even that takes place before PAX Prime.

In an interview regarding the new PAX South addition, Khoo had this to say. “Since its launch in 2004, PAX events have doubled in size almost every year, and our Seattle and Boston events represent the two largest gaming festivals in North America. We’ve been hearing for years that those in the south had a tough time making it to the northern corners of the country; PAX South has always been a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if.'”
