PC gamers picking up Titanfall are finding out that the game itself requires a rather large 48gb install. This rather large and lengthy install is a result of the games audio files being uncompressed.

The PC is considerably larger in size than the Xbox One version, which is only about 17gb. According to Respawn the reason behind  this size difference is, the PC version is using uncompressed audio.  Respawn’s reasoning behind this choice is, they wanted to accommodate for less powerful PC hardware set ups, especially duo core machines that do meet the minimum requirements. According to Lead Engineer Richard Barker the concern was, “a two-core machine would dedicate a huge chunk of one core to just decompressing audio,” so in the end the call was made to uncompress the audio to optimize performance.
