Just last week images leaked revealing the character and setting for Assassin’s Creed Unity. Today, we have a lot of leaked details on the long-rumored PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 exclusive AC title, Assassin’s Creed Comet.

Yesterday, a website called GameBlog leaked details on the game and the story. Comet will be a direct sequel to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and will take place around 1758. The main character will be a sailor named Shay, who betrays the captain of his ship. Comet will continue with the heavy nautical gameplay introduced in Assassin’s Creed III, and fleshed out in AC4.

All of those details have not been backed up, but Kotaku was able to talk with sources close to the game who back up that the game will, in fact, be set in North America and feature the character named Shay. One of the more interesting details is that Shay could actually be a Templar, who have mainly been the protagonists to the Assassins.

Sources have also commented that characters from past games will make appearances, such as Haythem Kenway, who was in AC3, and the father of AC3‘s main character Connor, as well as the son of AC4‘s main character Edward Kenway. Also rumored to return is AdewalĂ©, who was the first mate of Edward’s ship in AC4 and the star of the Freedom Cry DLC.

There’s good and bad to these rumors. Gamers have been critical that Assassin’s Creed pumps out yearly releases, and throwing out two games this year would only multiply that criticism. On the other hand, having two separate games, one for new-gen consoles, and one for old-gen consoles, lets the Unity team focus on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One hardware without having to be constrained with the dated specs of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles like AC4.
