Ever since thesurvivor2299.com site went live a few weeks ago, the gaming community has been eagerly expecting an announcement for Fallout 4.  Popular fan theory had it that the game would be announced at this years VGX awards.

However, Bethesda’s Pete Hines has come out on twitter and said the company would not be attending the VGX awards this weekend.  Not only would Bethesda not be attending the VGX, but they have no plans to announced anything game related.  “No, Folks.  I am not going to the VGX.  Bethesda is not showing/talking about anything at VGX.  Just some PR meetings in LA.  Take deep breaths.-“

Despite confirmation that nothing Fallout 4 would be announced at the VGX  awards, Hines did not comment on the authenticity of any rumors.  A few weeks prior, Bethesda had filed a trademark for Fallout 4, as well as the survior2299 site itself being said to have been registered by parent company Zenimax.

It could be that Bethesda plans its own release announcement independent from the VGX awards, but no further comments on the issue were made.  The website’s current timer runs out on December 11th. so it looks like fans will have to wait until then for any updates.

This could also turn out to just be a very elaborate hoax.  However, Bethesda is usually quick about squashing rumors, so it seems strange that they refused to comment this time around.  Any thoughts?
