Microsoft Game Studios vice president Phil Spencer answered a question today that has been on everybody’s mind, “Will Xbox One support capture cards?”

The question was raised because of the High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection DRM system that is in place on the Xbox One console.

Spencer answered the question quickly, “Yep. Exactly like it works today [on the Xbox 360].” Spencer did go on to say that not all video content will be able to be captured by external capture cards, specifically video that falls under the High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection, but he said, “If all you care about is getting the gameplay, you’re fine.”

The Xbox One will also include features that will record the last 5 minutes of gameplay and store it on your systems hard drive, and it could have a feature that will automatically record “magic moments” if developers choose to use it.
