The covers have finally been pulled back on the gameplay of Techland’s Dying Light, which is an action survival title in development for the next-gen consoles and current ones.

Warner Bros. and Techland released an 11-minute tech demo of Dying Light in action that shows off the style of gameplay that this zombie title offers. The main concept of Dying Light’s gameplay revolves around the instinctual nature found in all species of nature to fight or flight when faced with danger. During the day time you must gather supplies and weapons in preparation for the darkness brought on by nightfall, which is when the infected horde is at its deadliest. Regardless of the time of day, the notion of fighting or running from the infected will remain a core gameplay mechanic throughout.

This isn’t your standard zombie survival game either. Think of it as Dead Island meets Mirrors Edge, because Dying Light sports a heavy focus on free running and parkour-like skills to avoid the horde. It also features player choices that all affect the narrative in some way or another.

Quite frankly, the best way to wrap your head around this 2014 title is to buckle down in your favorite sitting device and fire up the 11-minute gameplay demo after the break. Enjoy!

Dying Light is set to release in 2014 for the PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, and Xbox One.
