The Legendary Pokémon of Pokémon X and Y have been revealed, as well as two of the new Gym Leaders and the game’s new Professor.

The new Legendary Pokémon that were revealed are; Xerneas, a Fairy-type and Yvetal a Flying-Dark Type. Xernes’s exclusive move is called Geomancy which is described as rainbow-colored light that erupts from the earth around it.” Fairy Aura is another move Xerneas can use; this move increases the states of all Fairy Type Pokemon in the battle. Yvetal uses an attack called Oblivion Wing which is “a powerful beam of red light that scorches the ground below.” Yvetal also uses the ability Dark Aura which boosts all Dark Pokemon stats in battle.

O-Powers are a new feature coming Pokemon X and Y multiplayer.  O-Powers are abilities that are activated in multiplayer that have single player effects. O-Powers “give players the ability to easily power up Pokémon in their party and provides other benefits.” These can be shared with other players either online or local players; for example “increase a Pokémon’s stats, while others make it easier to catch wild Pokémon or increase the Experience Points gained in battle.”   

The skills and traits of six new Pokemon were also revealed. Inkay and its’ evolution Malamr are both Dark-Psychic type Pokemon. They use the move Topsy-Turvy, which reverses status boosts and turns them to a status decreases instead. Swirlix, a Fairy type Pokemon who can only be captured in Pokemon X, uses the abilities Sweet Veil and Draining Kiss. Sweet Veil keeps Pokemon on the player’s team from being put to sleep by moves like Hypnosis. Draining Kiss does damage to the opponent and heals the player.

Spritzee is another Fairy-type that can only be captured in Pokemon Y. This Pokemon uses the Grass Type move Aromatherapy; this move heals Pokemon of negative affects like sleep and poison. Clauncher is a poison /water type that can only be captured in Pokémon X, and Skrelp is water type that can be only capture in Pokémon Y.

The new characters appearing this installment are Professor Augustine Sycamore, who tasks the player with stopping the plans of Team Flare. The two new gym leaders are name Grant (a jock) and Clemont (a science nerd).

Pokemon X and Y will be available this Oct 12, on the 3DS.
