After several entries and series of Kingdom Hearts will end it’s current story with Kingdom Hearts 3 according to Square Enix game director Tetsuya Nomura.

In an interview with the LA Times Nomura explained that Kingdom Hearts 3 added additional story elements that will be concluded with the game. He also mentioned that the game is not a “trilogy” and more games will be released for the franchise. Nomura said,

“There was never a plan [at first]. As a core game, this is finally the third, and 10 years have passed. I couldn’t call this a trilogy. There have been so many spinoffs. In ‘Kingdom Hearts 3,’ the battles that the characters have been fighting for the past 10 years will come to a conclusion. But the series will continue. Only the particular enemy they have been fighting the past 10 years will come to an end,”

Players will have the chance to play the Kingdom Hearts story with the upcoming HD 1.5 Remix this year.
