Senior Community Developer Antoine Edmond on the Ubisoft blog gave some insight on Tom Clancy’s The Division multiplayer and PVP features.   Edmond wrote in the blog post,

“Player vs. Player combat will play a very big role in our game. The choices you make as a Division agent can either spur a recovery or plunge the city further into chaos. The people you meet in certain areas of the game can either be your best friends or your worst enemies. So you’ll constantly be making decisions that will impact the world around you.”

Ubisoft announced The Division at E3 as one of its exclusive next gen titles. The game is not based on one of Tom Clancy’s  novels, though the universe that the author created is “key to the story of The Division,”  a story that takes place in New York following a pandemic that has devastated the population.

“Exploration, objectives, and player progression are all essential,” Edmond says in the post “You can team up with a group of friends in co-op and jump in and jump out at any time. In certain areas, you can also seamlessly engage in PvP and experience suspenseful scenarios where danger can come from anywhere and anyone.”

There will be guilds and clans in The Division and Ubisofts plans as of right now are not to place a cap on how many members a clan  can have. Edmond elaborated further in his post.  “Right now we have no plans to cap the number of players who can be affiliated to any particular clan. We are also looking to have a very extensive web-based clan support system for all players in The Division. But we should have more to come around all this soon.”
