The new Kinect 2.0 that will be included with every Xbox One will not be compatible with Windows PCs.

If you remember, when the original Kinect was first released it could be attached to both Xbox 360 consoles and Windows PCs, but Microsoft has decided to develop a stand alone Kinect 2.0 that will be for PCs only.

“The Kinect for Xbox One sensor will not have an adapter that allows it to plug into a computer,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Ars. ”The new generation Kinect for Windows sensor will connect to computers using a standard USB3 port. The new generation Kinect for Windows sensor will be a fully tested, licensed, and supported Kinect experience on Windows. Kinect for Xbox One is being built for and tested with the Xbox One.”

The PC only Kinect will release in 2014 along with a development kit.
