For the second year in a row, Sony executives will decline their yearly bonuses. The decision to forgo the bonuses came after a disappointing financial year in 2012 for Sony’s electronics department, mainly the TV and mobile phone divisions.

The idea to forgo the bonuses, which can be worth up to 50% of the executives’ annual salary, was proposed by Sony CEO Kaz Harai. 40 executives will return their bonuses which are scheduled to go out following a general shareholders meeting in June.

Early last week, Sony had to revise it fiscal year projections due to depreciation of the Yen and revenue gained through asset sales.
