According to two separate anonymous sources, CVG has learned EA has secured a partnership with Microsoft. A partnership that is unlikely to extend beyond exclusive downloadable content, or staggered release dates.

Nothing official has been confirmed by either Microsoft or EA, but the publisher’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen hinted that a big announcement was forthcoming after being asked why the company was a no-show at Sony’s Playstation 4 reveal.

“It was more about timing of our own slate as well as trying to maintain a good balance of power with all the parties out there and choosing when to unveil certain pieces of software.

I’d say, between now and E3, you are going to see a lot of stuff, and we are going to chose with our marketing teams when to announce.”

Despite their absence at Sony’s event, Jorgensen promises that the company supports Playstation 4.

“At the end of the day we are very excited about Sony’s platform. We feel there’s a huge opportunity there. The technical power on the platform is going to allow us to do a substantial amount of things that have never been done before.

I have seen the new Battlefield, and it is just stunning. It is just amazing what the imagination of the game developers [at DICE] are allowed to do with that much power.”

So when can gamers expect the next generation Xbox announcement? A recent tweet by CVG associate editor Rob Crossley reading, “The next Xbox event is scheduled for April 26th, I’ve been told by someone I trust. Microsoft may change date, obvs, but diarise tentatively.”

Excited for the possible announcement of the next Xbox only two months away? Let us know what you think of an April event from Microsoft and the rumored partnership between them and EA!
