Gotta love leaks! New details have emerged about the next generation console from Sony. Referred to as ‘Orbis’ and Playstation 4, the new leak has some similar things in previous reports, but also differs from some. None of this is confirmed, of course, and it’s all just speculation- Sony has not made any official announcements about their next console! But check out what the leak, reported to Kotaku, had to say!

Specs (DEV Kit):

  • System Memory: 8GB
  • Video Memory: 2.2 GB
  • CPU: 4x Dual-Core AMD64 “Bulldozer” (so, 8x cores)
  • GPU: AMD R10xx
  • Ports: 4x USB 3.0, 2x Ethernet
  • Drive: Blu-Ray
  • HDD: 160GB
  • Audio Output: HDMI & Optical, 2.0, 5.1 & 7.1 channels

Some of this may freak out interested gamers, remember this is just speculation and would not be the final retail version! Kotaku has also learned that a head-phone jack is on the front of the alleged console.

Controller:

Sony’s Playstation controller has been pretty similar since the beginning, and despite reports that the recognizable controller has been revamped completely to be more like the PS Vita; the new leak leans more towards a traditional Playstation controller with some new features. While rumors of a touch-screen being a new addition, it seems more like the touch pad technology feature on the back of the Vita is more likely. It’s also rumored to have motion controlled sensors and vibration at launch. The most interesting piece of information Kotaku has learned, is the addition of a ‘Share’ button to the controllers interface- suggesting that with a push of a button, players will be able to share screenshots etc…with facebook, twitter and any other compatible social media with ease right from their controller.

Accounts:

Unlike it’s predecessors, it seems that PS4 will allow multiple users to be signed onto one console- much like the current features you see on Microsoft’s Xbox.

Again, nothing has been confirmed. But if this legitimate  information about current development, how do you think it’s coming along? Let us know!
