While we have been patiently waiting for the DayZ stand alone, we will have to wait a bit longer. In a blog post released this morning by Dean Hall, creator of DayZ, has stated UI improvements are coming, new inventory and scavenger systems.

“I suppose I should start with the question everyone wants to know… where is DayZ stand alone? Obviously, it’s not here. At Eurogamer I said that DayZ had to be out before the end of the year and that’s come and gone. I still stand by that comment, to achieve what we had originally wanted, we did have to be out by the end of the year – and we’ve failed to achieve that.

Put simply, DayZ Standalone isn’t here because we had the chance to go from making a game that was just the mod improved slightly, packaged simply, and sold – to actually redeveloping the engine and making the game the way we all dreamed it could be. This blew any initial plans we had dictated to pieces.”

In that little post from the excerpt it sounds like the team developing DayZ is improving it in ways that will make it better and way more realistic, like having to actually look in places for food, its no longer in piles, and also if you headshot someone who is wearing NVG’s it damages or destroys the NVG’s. So as you can read in the rest of the blog post, the team is definitely hard at work making the game better and evolving the experience more. We will keep you up to date on the developments on DAYZ.
