Since its reveal back in 2007, officially in 2009, Agent has been an enigma among the gaming world. With Rockstar Games going on to make GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 but saying nothing about Agent. However, it may have been softly canceled by publisher Take-Two Interactive.

The trademark abandonment can be found here and stated “no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued,” which essentially means Take-Two did nothing with it.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as titles like these rarely come out after so much time of development. Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 3, Duke Nukem Forever and The Last Guardian are rare examples of long development periods leading up to an actual release. But like Prey 2 Agent may have become vaporware. But until an official confirmation from Take-Two, this is all speculation.

If you need something to mask the disappointing try Red Dead Redemption 2 and read our review while you’re at it.
