Today, Square Enix held a special announcement for Final Fantasy XV with many hoping for new information about the new episodes. Unfortunately, it was to confirm that Episodes Aranea, Lunafreya, and Noctis have been canceled.

The news was followed with even more terrible news as game director Hajime Tabata has left the company.

“I believe many fans have been eager to play these episodes, and the entire development team is regretful that we are unable to meet everyone’s expectations,” said Final Fantasy XV Global Brand Director Akio Ofuji.

Episode Ardyn will still release this March 2019. Square Enix provided a new trailer showing the upcoming expansion.

This is devastating news considering that players will never be able to play as Aranea or experience Episode Lunafreya.

Final Fantasy XV is now available for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
