Fortnite‘s next update is a nice reminder that the game’s not all about its Battle Royale mode. In Update v6.30, Epic Games has decided to give Fortnite‘s PvE mode, Save the World, a major overhaul. Save the World’s changes mainly focus on presentation and UI. According to Epic, they wanted to make Save the World easier to understand for new players and make its tabs more consistent with the rest of the game. The game’s new Homebase menu, plus each tab, now feature NPCs from the story. It adds a little bit of personality, and will make each tab feel more distinct. For example, the Heroes tab now features a new character named The Major. Talking to The Major lets you set your hero loadout, manage your defenders, and go on expeditions. In addition to these changes, the tutorial has been simplified greatly. Rather than the quests going through each of the game’s functions and UI features, the new tutorial is quick and will breeze players through the controls more quickly. Higher-level veteran players will be affected by these changes as well. The old skill and research trees will be gone. However, there’s no need to worry: these assets have simply converted the old data into the new power-up system. Players will automatically have their skill and research trees turned into F.O.R.T. stats, upgrade points and other resources.
