References to three different amiibo toys have shown up in the Nintendo Switch game files for Diablo 3: Eternal Collection.

The Switch version of Diablo 3: Eternal Collection launches on Friday. Those who got early access have uncovered and leaked references to Nintendo’s amiibo toys within the files. Meanwhile, there has not been an official announcement from Nintendo or Blizzard about amiibo support for the game.

Reddit user JustMaku found the mention of the amiibo toys in the files, but also detailed information on what they will do. Amiibo toys typically trigger in-game events or unlock loot in the games that support them.

The amiibos that have been discovered so far are the Treasure Goblin, Demon, and one default amiibo. According to the leak, the Treasure Goblin and default amiibo will spawn a portal to an unknown location. As for the demon Amiibo, it will apparently spawn a powerful demon for the player to fight. The amiibo’s abilities do have a cooldown, however. 1320 minutes for the portals and 45 minutes for the demon. Finally, the user adds that the abilities can be used both locally and online.

When can we expect to hear more?

BlizzCon 2018 is taking place this weekend, which would be a great stage to announce the Diablo 3 amiibo. Nintendo typically unveils amiibo figures through its official channels first, but Blizzard might be an exception.
