With the holiday season upon us, the Black Friday 2018 sales are fast approaching. If you’re wanting to save some money on holiday gifts, you’ll want to be prepared for the biggest shopping event of the year. To get ready for both Black Friday and Cyber Monday, here is everything you need to know about the day of sales.

When Is Black Friday 2018?

Black Friday is always the day after Thanksgiving, making it November 23rd this year. If it plays out like past years, however, we can start seeing deals beginning on Thanksgiving. Sales can also be expected to run through the weekend with even more deals on Cyber Monday. Because sales have been expanding over the years, it will be worth paying attention to retail ads and social media posts to know when discounts are set to start.

Which Retailers Participate in Black Friday?

If video games are on your list, you’ll want to pay attention to Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Newegg, Target and Walmart. You can also expect to see sales on digital video games through the PlayStation Store, Nintendo Eshop, Microsoft Store, and Steam.

What Games are Expected to go on Sale?

In years past, one could find discounts on just about every video game from the past few years, including some recent releases. Older games generally get larger discounts but keep an eye out for doorbuster sales. You can find surprisingly low prices even on newer games. Last year, games like Resident Evil 7 and For Honor dropped to 15 dollars during Black Friday. Some games that were only a couple weeks old like Call of Duty: WWII and Need for Speed Payback went for 30 and 40 dollars.

Assuming this year works out similarly, watch out for deals on Monster Hunter World, Sea of Thieves, Far Cry 5, and God of War. For more recent games like Madden NFL 19, Spider-Man, and Forza Horizon 4, you might see some price drops in the 30 dollar range.

We may even see discounts on games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Consoles and Accessories Will Get Discounts Too

Consoles will be dropping prices as well. Last year, the big retailers offered $50 to $100 discounts on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 models, with added bonuses like $25-$50 dollar gift cards. The Nintendo Switch was less than a year, so it didn’t get discounted last year. A Kohl’s Black Friday 2018 leak is showing a bundle with a Turtle Beach headset and carrying case for $329. Also leaked are PS4 and Xbox One controllers for $40. A Target Black Friday ad is showing a PS4 and Spider-Man combo for $200, with more deal on video games.

And remember, if you see a great deal, jump on it! Deals that seem too good to be true don’t last very long. Retailers only have a limited supply, and items move fast during the holiday season.
