Nintendo isn’t a stranger when it comes to special edition versions of their handheld consoles. With the latest one sporting a Creeper face from Minecraft.

According to Windows Central, Nintendo and Microsoft have been actively working together since crossplay features from titles like Fortnite, Rocket League, and Minecraft has expanded their communities. With 3 new 2DS models coming that include an Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and Minecraft theme.

Microsoft and Nintendo have been working together closely for the past few months to make cross-play a reality between the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Titles like Fortnite and Minecraft support this functionality. It seems like the handheld is an extension of this partnership because everyone assumed only Microsoft would be making special edition Minecraft consoles and accessories from now on.

The console will launch August 2nd in Japan but no date for a western release was provided.
